STORYTELLING PROJECTS

I’m a video lover (see also: photography) with production experience in live and on-location logistics, filming, and distribution. My favorite projects are those that put people first and contextualize their experience, motivations and environment. Below are some of the more personal projects usually including a single subject filmed onsite in their own environments in a “day in the life” style format.

KS|QA: Manu Platt, PhD

Manu Omar Platt is a biomedical engineer and Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering. This project was intended to highlight Manu as an individual and also his important work in the study of sickle cell anemia, and in promoting diversity and inclusion in the life sciences. Filmed on-location at Georgia Institute of Technology and edited in Premiere Pro.

Health Disparities: Sickle Cell, Research and CRISPR

Location: Georgia Tech, Atlanta, GA.

Lighting: Wescott, Anova

Video: Canon C100 mkII, Sony A1

KS Lab Tours

This series of Keystone Symposia Lab Tours was filmed on-location at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. This proved to be a fairly challenging shoot, as I was limited to a small, portable video package and relied heavily on natural light in a location we did not have the ability to scout ahead of time. The opportunity to highlight LMIC student-scientists in this part of the world makes this one of the more rewarding projects I’ve worked on. Edited in Premiere Pro.

KS|QA: EUGENIA ONG, PHD

Eugenia Ong, PhD is a senior research fellow at Viral Research and Experimental Medicine Centre at Singhealth Duke-NUS (ViREMiCS) and Duke-NUS Medical School. This interview was filmed onsite during the Keystone Symposia meeting “Framing the Response to Emerging Virus Infections” at the University of Hong Kong in Pok Fu am, Hong Kong. Edited in Premiere Pro.

Location: Former Republic of Hong Kong
